STEPHENSON CANCER CENTER

With abundant natural light and views of a landscaped pond, the building’s design inspired an art package centered on nature and healing.

Art Direction

  • Artwork was selected based on research showing how certain imagery, color palettes, and compositions reduce anxiety and improve patient outcomes.

  • Art was fabricated using materials that are durable, easy to clean, and non-toxic (+ securely mounted to meet ADA compliance).

  • Artwork harmonized with building’s materials (wood, glass, natural light) and water-inspired design motifs already integrated throughout the building.

  • Art was used intentionally in key transition points (entryways, hallways, waiting areas) to help patients navigate the space.
